About

Student experience, written down.

TeacherRate was founded by Raphael Lewis to give students a straightforward place to describe what their lessons are actually like, and to help teachers understand what supports learning.

Students rate clarity, engagement, fairness and helpfulness from one to five and write about the class in their own words. Reviews are published under a username, never an email address or a real name.

Schools and teachers listed here are taken from public records and from staff pages published on official school websites. A listing shows where the information came from and when it was last checked.

What the ratings mean

A rating is one student's experience of one class at one point in time. It is not a complete assessment of a teacher's practice, and it is not an objective measure of teaching quality.

Ratings should not be treated as a hiring recommendation, a professional appraisal, or evidence about anyone's work. Averages can be shaped by a small number of reviews, by the subject, or by the group being taught.

A school appearing on TeacherRate does not mean the school takes part in it or endorses it. Reviews that contain abuse, personal information or rule breaking are hidden.
